Reccing Thursday
May. 23rd, 2019 09:54 pmA couple of fics I’ve enjoyed recently:
familiar (but this time i’ve had some practice) by aloneintherain
How to Train Your Dragon
Hiccup/Astrid, 13.1k, rated T
Every decade, three teenagers are dragged from the future and placed in their younger bodies to give predictions that will set the tone for the next ten years on Berk.
But how are three dragon riders supposed to give prophecy to a village full of dragon-hating vikings?
Three of the teens are taken from their post HTTYD selves and temporarily sent back to Berk just before Hiccup befriends Toothless. Needless to say, the villagers aren’t sure what to make of them. It’s charming, has a concept I haven’t seen before, and is full of feels.
never run smooth by The Crownless Queen
Harry Potter
3k, rated T
In his defense, Charlie was drunk at the time. He didn't exactly intend on starting an international dragon rescue/smuggling secret group.
A mostly pre-canon fic in which Charlie and his friends accidentally start a dragon rescue/smuggling operation, and he hopes his family never finds out.
Your Eyes Are My Sunrise by patchwork_daydreams
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Bucky Barnes/Sam Wilson, 9.6k, rated G
“Can you pass me the last slice?” Bucky says, motioning to the box next to Sam.
He’s not sure what makes him do it – maybe some last ditch attempt to break this weirdness between them – but Sam picks up the remaining slice of pizza and stuffs the whole thing into his mouth.
“What last slice?” he asks thickly, through his mouthful of pizza crust.
A smile breaks onto Bucky’s face, and Sam thinks thank god. He holds his gaze, just a little too long, and is surprised when Bucky responds by glancing very deliberately down, running his eyes down Sam’s body. Holy fuck, what is this?
“Dick,” Bucky mutters after a moment, his eyes flicking back up to Sam’s face, and quirking an eyebrow.
A post-TWS fic where Sam and Bucky bond (and commiserate over having had crushes on a very oblivious Steve), flirt by making fun of each other, and eventually get their acts together. Almost completely fluff, and lots of fun.
