Chocolate Box 2021
Dec. 31st, 2020 03:00 pmDear Creator,
I'm sure I'll like whatever you make for me, so just have fun! I know this letter got a little long, and there are some pairings that have more prompts than others, but that just means I had a lot of ideas for those (or had a past letter to copy & paste from). If I requested a pairing, I would be happy to see just about anything for them!

DNWs:
Beware of the Villainess is a webcomic featuring a main character who has been reincarnated as the villainess of a mediocre romance novel. I'm currently caught up on the English translation (chapter 57, as of the time of this letter).
As you can probably tell, my absolute favorite relationship in this comic are between Melissa and Nine and Yuri-- they're the cutest.
A note on my DNW for breakup of canon relationships: I'm fine with canon-typical handling of Ian and any other exes in this comic. I'd like the focus to be on the groups I'm asking for, but feel free to have other characters show up and their histories be alluded to as necessary.
Melissa Podebrat & Nine Forton & Yuri Elizabeth
Melissa Podebrat/Nine Forton & Melissa Podebrat/Yuri Elizabeth
Melissa Podebrat/Nine Forton/Yuri Elizabeth
I'm grouping these requests together because they are all variations on the same thing. I love their canon-typical dynamic where Melissa feels like she needs to protect Nine and Yuri (even though, as an ordinary human, she probably seems weaker to most outsiders!). I love how devoted Yuri and Nine are, and how they are both sneakily competing for Melissa's affections. Feel free to keep that dynamic! Or have something change it up: maybe one or both of them confesses to Melissa, or the two of them realize that they have a lot in common when they aren't competing, or Melissa tries to set the two of them up. Honestly, I am here for all the swordfighting and the magic and the hijinks and Melissa kicking ass. Have fun with it!
This show is dazzling, soapy fun, and it's basically everything I like in romances. Drama! Excitement! Absurd characters! Happily-ever-afters! I love it all.
Spoilers for Bridgerton season 1 below.
Daphne Bridgerton & Eloise Bridgerton
I'm really interested in their relationship! They obviously care about each other, but they're very different-- and those differences have them clashing at almost every turn. Daphne values a lot of the same things that mainstream society of her time does, and that doesn't mean that her life is easy, but it definitely means that she knows what she wants her life to look like. I'm really interested in the little ways they support each other (like the piano-playing scene) or clash with each other.
Eloise Bridgerton & Penelope Featherington
Eloise Bridgerton/Penelope Featherington
I really love their friendship-- how they support each other, how they go to each other with their questions that adults won't answer, and how they fight but ultimately come back together. I also think they're really shippy! And I really love the layer that Penelope's secret identity as Lady Whistledown adds: she's been keeping this secret, even knowing that Eloise is desperately searching for Lady Whistledown's identity. Worse, Penelope has proven that she is willing to sell out the secrets of her close family and friends...but I kind of still love her for it? I like that she has a secret vicious side, and I'm interested in her motivations!
Eloise Bridgerton/OFC
Eloise reads as pretty gay to me, especially with her insistence that she doesn't fit into the traditional mold and with her fear of coming out into society. I'm really interested in how that might continue to play out in the future-- and in the possibility of her finding happiness with another woman.
Eloise Bridgerton/Siena Russo
Let's all be real, Siena deserves someone better than Anthony, and Eloise would almost certainly treat her right-- or at least try. Maybe Siena doesn't much care about the gender of her lover, as long as they have the money to keep her in style and they treat her well? A lot of my thoughts from Eloise/OFC apply here, too.
Marina Thompson & Penelope Featherington
Marina Thompson/Penelope Featherington
Their relationship is both really sweet and really awful. I love how compassionate Penelope is toward Marina, at least when she doesn't feel threatened by her, and how touched Marina clearly is by her concern. I love that Penelope wants Marina to be happy and to find a good man to marry-- until that man is Colin Bridgerton, and then she lashes out in the worst way she knows. How would Marina react if she knew that it was Penelope who wrote about her? Does Penelope regret it at all? Or maybe an AU where things between them end up a little bit differently...
Andy | Andromache of Scythia (The Old Guard 2020)/Natasha Romanov (MCU)
Natasha is one of my absolute faves. I love how she’s grown and changed in the time we’ve seen her-- from the closed-off agent we first see in IM2 and Avengers to the team leader we see in Endgame. Meanwhile, Andy is thousands of years old, has seen it all and done it all, and has to reckon with being mortal again. I'm interested in how they might interact-- does Natasha hire Andy and her team for a job? Do they work together during the five year timeskip after the Snap? Is Natasha a new immortal?
Chelli Lona Aphra (Star Wars)/River Song (Doctor Who)
I'm not fully caught up with all of Aphra's comics, but I have listened to the Doctor Aphra book, and I adore her. She's kind of a sociopath, but she's so delightful! I also really love River Song-- she's charming and adventurous and also willing to shoot first and ask questions later. And they're both SPACE ARCHAEOLOGISTS! They could be rivals, or work together, or meet on a dig (which one or both of them would almost certainly be at illicitly)! The possibilities are endless!
Elizabeth Swann (POTC)/Susan Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia)
The Pirate King and a Queen of Narnia! Narnia really seems like the kind of place you could sail to in the Pirates of the Caribbean world! As always, what I'm most interested in with this pairing is seeing how these characters would play off of each other: Susan is The Gentle Queen, with a quiet core of strength, while Elizabeth is much more brash, determined to make her own way in the world on her own terms.
I would really rather this not be a "Problem of Susan" type of story, but if you set it after her adventures in Narnia are concluded, I would rather the story focus on her feelings about her current adventures, rather than on bitterness about the past.
Elizabeth Swann (POTC)/Quynh (The Old Guard)
Maybe Elizabeth or one of her crew pulls up Quynh's prison? Or maybe Quynh manages to free herself a few hundred years early, and stumbles across Elizabeth and her crew? I'm really interested in how they would interact-- I think that Quynh, with her immortality, would fit in really well with the POTC universe and all of its magic.
Eris (Seven Devils)/Gamora (MCU)
They're both space assassin princesses! They've both done a lot of horrible things in the past and have had a change of heart, they both have a number of horrible, murderous siblings, and they both have one sibling that they care about deeply (although Xander is considerably kinder than Nebula). I'm really interested in how they would interact.
Grace Le Domas (Ready or Not) & Theresa "Tree" Gelbman (Happy Death Day)
I just really love the idea of them meeting up and bonding over being so over the horror movie bullshit they got caught up in. Or maybe they somehow end up as roommates, and are each trying to hide their newly-acquired habit of stashing weaponry everywhere from each other? Or the two of them end up living through some other horror trope together (Ghosts? Vampires? Another kind of slasher?) and saving each other?
Grace Le Domas (Ready or Not)/Marta Cabrera (Knives Out)
They're both survivors, in their own way, thrown into situations far beyond them. I love that Marta is smart and kind and capable, and I love that Grace is adaptable, and wants to believe in her new family, right up until they've shown her that she really can't. I would love to see Marta and Grace bonding about shitty rich people, or solving a murder, or escaping a new horror scenario together.
(Please note that while I love horror, I don't like body horror or graphically described gore. Thanks!)
Loki (MCU) & Matt Damon (RPF)
In case you missed it, Matt Damon plays Loki in the play at the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok. I like to think that this is the real Matt Damon, and Loki kidnapped him to star in his magnum opus.
Please note that I do not know anything about the real Matt Damon, nor do I care, so don't feel particularly constrained by reality; I just want to know what an actor from Earth does when stuck on Asgard, when Asgard is taken over by Hela, or when he finds himself among Asgardian refugees headed back to Earth. Or tell me why Loki chose Matt Damon, out of all the actors on Midgard!
Fanfic
Fandom-specific notes: I hated Infinity War and have mixed feelings on Endgame. That said, if you want to incorporate Endgame canon into my gift, I’m good with that (and have included some prompts for that below). My only fandom-specific DNWs: no focus on the other half of the pairing being Snapped (fine with references to it, but don’t make it the focus of the entire fic, and please end with some sort of hopeful note), and please no reference to Natasha's or Gamora's deaths. I don’t care how you handwave it (unless that is specified with the freeform we matched on); I want them alive in my giftfics.
Ava Starr/Hope Van Dyne
Now that Ava has been healed, what happens next? What does she do with her life-- and does it involve a lot of complicated feelings about and sex with Hope? Maybe circumstances keep forcing them to work together, and they slowly realize they actually do like being on the same side.
Ava Starr/James "Bucky" Barnes
I'm really fascinated by the similarities between them! In canon, we hear that Ava worked as an assassin for SHIELD, but based on everything else we know about SHIELD, I have always assumed that this was one of HYDRA's secret projects within SHIELD? So if we take that for granted, they were both assassins for HYDRA against their will. I'm really interested in seeing who the two of them might become now that they are free to be whoever they want to be.
Ava Starr/Wanda Maximoff
So, these two have a lot in common-- they’ve both got OTT unstable powers and have been used by their handlers in the past, and set out to get revenge on the man who they blame for the death of their family. They’re not exactly alike-- Wanda volunteered, and Ava didn’t-- but that’s also interesting! It sets up a lot of interesting parallels and contrasts between them, and I’d love to see something that plays with that.
Carol Danvers/Maria Rambeau
SPACE WIVES! I'd love these two to have more adventures together post-CM. I'd especially love anything that plays with their shared history and how they've changed-- and how they haven't-- over the years they've been apart.
Carol Danvers/Valkyrie
I’d love something where Carol and Val meet at some point in space! Maybe Carol’s work takes her to Sakaar and she meets Val there, or maybe Val leaves Sakaar before the events of Ragnarok and encounters Carol. I’m totally down for some cosmic adventures, some sparring, some fighty sex, and/or any of the above.
Or what about the five years that pass during Endgame-- did the two of them ever go on any missions together then? Or maybe something set after the Unsnappening: what is life like for Queen Valkyrie of New Asgard, and does that change her relationship with Carol and the others?
Gamora/Jane Foster
I’m not saying Jane has a thing for aliens, but she doesn’t not have a thing for aliens. And I feel like Gamora would really like Jane and her determination and her fearlessness, and Jane would love Gamora’s resilience and courage (although she might frown a bit at her flexible morals). I’d love for them to go on space adventures together!
Jane Foster/Valkyrie
Again, I’m not saying Jane has a thing for aliens, but she doesn’t not have a thing for aliens. XD Jane is Earth's leading expert on the Bifrost (and possibly on a lot of Asgardian tech)-- maybe she ends up at the New Asgard settlement? (Maybe Valkyrie is the one who brings her there?) Or maybe Valkyrie makes Jane!Thor her queen! Or they go on road trips in space!
Natasha Romanoff/Okoye
I absolutely love Okoye’s unshaking loyalty to Wakanda, even if that sometimes leads her in some misguided directions. Okoye rarely seems unsure of herself or her decisions. Meanwhile, I think Natasha is pretty constantly questioning every decision she’s ever made and her own moral compass and constantly striving because she doesn’t trust herself to be a good person. And I think those are some really interesting differences! Besides, they’re both really badass, and that just needs to be acknowledged.
Maybe they run into each other in the time period post-Civil War and Black Panther, when Wakanda is opening up to the world and Natasha is on the run? Or maybe they have some kind of history from ops Natasha has been on when Okoye has run into her? Or something set during the five year timeskip in Endgame, with the two of them running missions together? Maybe Okoye gets included on the time heist? (Again, I DNW Natasha dying if you go this route.)
I absolutely love everything about this movie, from the action setpieces to the actors to the music. It's tons of fun, with so many possibilities for fic. Give me all of it!
Andy | Andromache of Scythia/Nile Freeman
I absolutely love these two! I love how competent they both are-- Nile is clearly great at what she does (she's a Marine!) but Andy has so much experience that she just cannot keep up during that fight on the airplane. And when they work together, they're unstoppable. One of the things I really like about their dynamic is that Nile is young and optimistic and brand-new to immortality, but Andy has seen it all and done it all-- and now has to reckon with being mortal again.
Andy | Andromache of Scythia/Quynh
The scene where Quynh and Andy are captured and Quynh is drowned is heartbreaking. And during the movie, Andy is wearing Quynh's necklace! We see so little of the two of them, but what we do see implies that the two of them were intensely in-sync with each other. I'd love to see more of that dynamic; I'm sure they had lots of adventures pre-canon!
The pitch I saw for this book compared it to a Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars, but with feminist and queer themes, and so far it's living up to that. When things are pitched for being feminist, I'm always worried that they'll be preachy or heavy-handed, but this is just fun. It's a space opera, focused on a handful of women in a small resistance movement trying to overthrow the Tholosian Empire, with lots of fighting, heists, and tension along the way.
Honestly, this is my tiny fandom of one. If you create me something for this, I will basically love you forever.
Ariadne & Cato & Cloelia & Eris & Kyla & Nyx & Rhea
The whole team! I'm really interested in how they work together and how they think about each other. Maybe a bit of downtime as they travel, or their further adventures after the end of this book? I really like how well they work together, as well as how they rub each other the wrong way much of the time.
Ariadne & Cloelia & Eris & Nyx & Rhea
We spend most of the book with these five, and I love all of them. For the most part, my thoughts here are the same as above-- I just want more!
Ariadne & Nyx & Rhea
We see a bit of how these three met in flashbacks, but I find their relationships really interesting! They all plotted to escape the empire from its very heart; I love their plots and conversations and how they came together. I'm also interested in the three of them later on, once they've met up with the resistance-- how do they see themselves fitting in on this larger mission?
Cloelia & Eris
Cloelia/Eris
I'm really fascinated by their relationship dynamics! Clo is one of the few people who knows Eris's true identity at the beginning of the book, and it creates a really interesting tension between them. There's a lot of resentment and distrust, but in the end, they have to rely on each other because they're on the same side and there's no one else to rely on.
Cloelia/Rhea
I really enjoy how empathetic Rhea is, and how she and Clo grow closer to each other over the course of the book. I'd love more about their relationship and how they work together or think about each other.
Eris/Nyx
I really like how fascinated Nyx is by Eris, and how she can tell that there's something up with her, before she knows the truth. I also really like their chemistry and their similar histories and just how they play off of each other!
I loved everything about this show, from the idea of teen girls stranded on an island to the ridiculous conspiracy to the flashbacks to the entire overarching theme that the real problem isn't the teenage girls, it's the adults who aren't taking teenage girls and their very real problems seriously.
I have no idea where season 2 might take us, so feel free to go wild here: write me canon divergence AUs or something set after the events of the season 1 finale or missing scenes from season 1.
(And this should go without saying, but FYI: this is a twisty show and there are some SERIOUS spoilers for season 1 here.)
Dot Campbell & Shelby Goodkind
I think the friendship that begins to grow between the two of them is really fascinating! They were each aware of one another before the crash, but they obviously didn't travel in the same circles. Even on the island, they don't really have much in common-- but I like how they manage to pull together. Shelby is so relentlessly positive, and Dot is so level-headed, and both of them are so practical about survival, that they make a really good team (whether they like it or not!). I like the little moments they share, too, like Dot finding out about Shelby's teeth, or when Shelby makes a joke about Dot killing the snake, or Dot bringing Shelby the vodka and telling her to join the party so no one else tries to pry into her business.
Dot Campbell/Fatin Jadmani
It took a while for Fatin to grow on me, but by the time we saw her flashbacks, I was hooked on her as a character. On the surface, she's shallow: all glitz and dick jokes, willing to lounge around in the sun while everyone else does the work. But if you get past that, she's deeply compassionate and hard-working. She repeatedly reaches out to girls who are distant or prickly or generally difficult to get along with, even if she doesn't always say the right thing. That's one of the things that she and Dot have in common!
I'm really fascinated by their relationship-- they're so incredibly different on the surface, and come from very different circumstances, but once they get past that, they just gel. I love how they get along with the other girls on the island, but I'd also be really interested in an AU where they get off the island and Fatin sells that watch to buy her influencer house and Dot moves in with her, just like they were talking about.
Fatin Jadmani/Leah Rilke
They're another pair that came from the same school and sort-of knew each other, but never interacted! They really get off on the wrong foot, with Fatin reading the love notes in Leah's book and delivering some much-needed truth bombs (but in entirely the wrong way). But when Fatin goes missing, Leah is the one who works the hardest to find her. And the super awkward hug they share! And by the end of the season, when Leah is sure that she knows something is wrong, Fatin is willing to hear her out, even though she's not sure whether Leah is losing it.
Martha Blackburn & Shelby Goodkind
So, I'm pretty sure that the scenes in the bunker in the final few episodes were implying that something horrible happened to Martha on the island, but LET'S JUST IGNORE THAT FOR NOW. (It's not true until it's onscreen XD) I really like how persistently kind Martha is and how she tries to see the good in everyone-- and how her flashbacks showed just how much that way of looking at the world might be a shield, and how she's no more naive than any of the other girls. I like the easy friendship she and Shelby fall into at first, and how they seem to just 'get' each other, despite coming from very different backgrounds-- except for when Shelby crosses the line, and Martha isn't willing to forgive her.
Nora Reid & Rachel Reid
I am in love with their mega-dysfunctional relationship. Nora has spent most of her life living in Rachel's shadow, more-or-less content with doing whatever it takes to help her sister be happy and successful. Rachel has spent her whole life pushing herself past every conceivable boundary, trying to make her parents as proud of her as they are of Nora-- and ultimately failing. Ultimately, they're on the island because neither one of them really know who they are.
...Kind of. There's also that teeny little detail about how they're there because Nora signed them up to be part of the experiment. We already know that she blames herself for everything that's happened on the island. Feel free to tell me more about that! Or about what might happen if Rachel finds out what Nora did.
Shelby Goodkind/Toni Shalifoe
(I know I have a homophobia DNW, but I'm fine with the canon-typical stuff baked into Shelby's background.)
I really love the relationship that grows between the two of them over the course of the season. I love how Shelby keeps pushing Toni, trying to see past her tough, angry exterior, and how she tries to make friends with her even when she gets pushed away. I love how raw and angry Toni is, and how she's been turned on so many times that she just lashes out. I love that Toni was poised and ready for Shelby to be awful, and kept warning Martha, and she wasn't even surprised when Shelby repeated tired old homophobic lines. I love that Toni wasn't interested in Shelby's pity party, but told her to go after what she wanted-- and when she figured out what Shelby's deal actually was, she showed more patience toward Shelby than she had most of the season. I love how gentle they are toward each other, despite everything, and how afraid they are of everything falling apart, and how deeply they seem to care for each other anyway.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Old Guard
FanficI absolutely love everything about this movie, from the action setpieces to the actors to the music.
Seven Devils
Fanfic, FanartThe pitch I saw for this book compared it to a Guardians of the Galaxy or Star Wars, but with feminist and queer themes, and so far it's living up to that.
The Wilds
FanficI loved everything about this show, from the idea of teen girls stranded on an island to the ridiculous conspiracy to the flashbacks to the entire overarching theme that the real problem isn't the teenage girls, it's the adults who aren't taking teenage girls and their very real problems seriously.
