AU Exchange Letter

I know this letter got a little long, and there are some canons that have more prompts than others, but that just means I had a lot of ideas for those (or had a past letter to copy & paste from). If I requested a ship or canon, I would be happy to see just about anything for them! Some of my prompts get a little long, but please feel free to just write 1000 words of whatever you find inspiring in a prompt!

Requested AUs
Arranged Marriage AU
Feel free to make this a marriage of convenience or a marriage for political reasons or whatever else your heart desires! My favorite things about arranged marriage AUs are characters being initially resentful of their situation, characters stoically going along with the situation because it’s their duty, characters misunderstanding or misreading each others’ wants, excuses for forced consummation, and of course, eventually falling in love as they spend more and more time in forced proximity.
Con Artist AU
I love grifter-type characters, especially when they secretly have a heart of gold. Maybe the characters are teaming up for a job, maybe they’re rival con artists-- either way is great! I’m not super into the idea of an AU where one character is a con artist and the other is the law enforcement officer trying to catch them, unless the law enforcement officer joins up with the con artist by the end.
Dragon Riders
Look I just want characters having to look after dragons and getting to ride them and go on adventures. Telepathic dragons are good but not a must; talking dragons are a "rather not" for this. Either set in the canon setting or in an AU setting of your own creation is great.
Peggy Sue AU
I’m requesting this for the SW prequels, and I would especially love Padme, Anakin, or Obi-Wan having to Peggy Sue their way through the prequel era. What I especially love about this trope is when foreknowledge isn’t enough, when one change causes things to spin out of control, and characters feeling disoriented and regretful and unsure about what to do next.
Regency-Inspired Science Fiction AU
Both times I requested this was for Star Wars, so... give me characters dressing up for fancy balls and being excited about touching bare hands, but set on Coruscant! Give me house parties in country estates on Naboo! Give me characters getting into duels of honor with lightsabers or blasters!
Space Pirates AU
I love pirates and space pirates are even better! I only requested this for Star Wars, so I’m going to ask you to keep that setting, but otherwise, go wild! I love misfit crews and grey morality and secret hearts of gold and basically all the things you would expect out of a pirate AU.
State-Mandated Ghost Hunters
Here’s the origin of the AU, if you don’t know. I think I’ve requested this for all my fandoms, and I’d love it for any of these ships. All the canons I’m requesting for this exchange have canonical ghosts, or (in the case of Veronica Mars) something very close. Feel free to go wild with the worldbuilding there-- maybe there are different kinds of ghosts? Maybe some ghosts eventually become dangerous?

Jyn Erso/Amilyn Holdo
I would love to see these two interacting and bouncing off of each other! They strike me as having very different personalities-- Jyn seems very straightforward, where Amilyn tends to approach things sideways.
I've read Leia, Princess of Alderaan, so if you want to lean on that for Amilyn's characterization, I'm totally there for that.
Jyn Erso/Enfys Nest
While both of these women are very straightforward and practical, Enfys seems much more...not idealistic, exactly. But willing to fight for change? While Jyn just wants to be left alone when we first meet her. I'd love to see how they interact!
Jyn Erso/Rey
Much like with Amilyn/Rey, I love the idea of Jyn mentoring Rey, especially if the two of them get to blow things up and shoot things together. And if you want an excuse to give Jyn a lightsaber, I'm here for that, too.
Jyn Erso/Han Solo
This ship is based entirely on the fact that they could switch clothes and no one would be able to tell. Okay, not entirely. They both have a crusty, cynical shell hiding the fact that they’re secretly total softies. They would either hate each other or get along like a house on fire-- or both.
Jyn Erso/Qi’ra
I love the idea of these two meeting and either working against each other or working with each other toward a common goal. Qi'ra is a lot more polished than Jyn, but they both know what it's like not to have anyone else to rely on, and to cloak themselves in cynicism.
Amilyn Holdo/Rey
I like the idea of Amilyn as a kind of mentor to Rey at some point, and Rey crushing on her and looking up to her at the same time. I'm totally here for that trope where Rey thinks she isn't badass and awesome enough for Amilyn who is older and experienced and has done all this great stuff, but Amilyn totally respects her for who she is already.
I've read Leia, Princess of Alderaan, so if you want to lean on that for Amilyn's characterization, I'm totally there for that.
Leia Organa/Qi’ra
I really want Leia and Qi'ra to meet! They're both very driven, but I think they'd almost certainly be on different sides. I think Leia could be as ruthless as Qi'ra if she had to be, but I don't think it comes naturally to her. I would love a situation where they're forced to work together, or to negotiate something, or if they're frenemies of some kind who keep meeting.
Enfys Nest/Leia Organa
Both are revolutionaries, although their methods are different-- I think Enfys comes from outside the system, while Leia learned to work within it (she was a senator, after all). We don't know much about Enfys's past, so anything you want to come up with to fill in the gaps there would be great. I just want these two playing off of each other in one of my requested AUs!
Qi'ra/Rey
I love the idea of Qi'ra taking Rey under her wing, because she sees something of herself in the younger woman. Maybe she wants to protect Rey, maybe she wants Rey to be more ruthless, maybe it's a combination of both and Qi'ra really doesn't know.

What is a Star Wars coffeeshop even like? Are we talking about a high end Gatalentan teashop or a polished and efficient Imperial coffeeshop on the Death Star or a dingy hole in the wall on Coruscant? Feel free to combine with any of the other AUs I requested if you want (Empire Never Fell, Republic Never Fell, and Space florist all seem like potentially good fits?) and go wild with the worldbuilding on this one-- I only ask that you keep it more-or-less in the world of SW.
Space Florist AU
What kind of flowers does a space florist have to deal with? What are their customers like? Are the florists all secretly assassins? I adore Tonks! I love her metamorphmagus powers and I love her attitude toward life and I love her clumsiness. She is absolutely amazing.

Neville is the best! I love how much he grows as a character over the course of the series, and yet how firmly Gryffindor he still is even in the beginning. He’s not loud and showy with his bravery, but he’s absolutely fantastic.

HP: Lestranges took in Neville Longbottom after torturing his parents
OH NO. But what would a Neville raised by the Lestranges be like? What would that upbringing have even looked like? If you’re up for it, a darkly comedic take on this could also be really fun.
HP: Tonks becomes Lord Black
I’m a sucker for fanon politics (Wizengamot meetings, heads of ancient and noble houses, Lordships, etc.) in Harry Potter fic, and there is not nearly enough fic with this premise.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Darth Maul/Qi’ra
The end of Solo left me craving more fic about these two! How well do they know each other? Has Maul been watching Qi’ra, waiting for her to prove herself? Exactly what are they going to get up to on Dathomir?
Enfys Nest/Qira
Something where they’re frenemies and sometimes fighting each other and sometimes working toward a common goal would be great. I’d also love something where they’re stranded or otherwise forced to work together. Or something where they have to match wits-- over a sabacc table or on a heist or wherever else you can think of.

Enemies forced to work together
This is one of my all-time favorite tropes. I love anything where enemies are forced to work together because they’re working toward the same goal, or they’re stranded somewhere together, or whatever. I eat this shit up with a spoon. I was thinking of this specifically for Enfys/Qi’ra, but if you want to mix and match, you could definitely combine “Darth Maul joins the Rebellion” to make it work for Qi’ra/Maul.
SWSolo: Qi’ra is Maul’s Sith Apprentice
Maybe this is what happens after Solo-- Maul said Qi’ra was to come to Dathomir at the end; maybe he makes her his apprentice then?
SW: Darth Maul joins the Rebellion to get revenge on Sidious
This could be played either cracky or serious and I’m here for it either way. If you like, maybe it could be combined with the “enemies forced to work together AU”, for Maul/Qi’ra?

Padmé Amidala
Padme!!! I love her courage and how much she believes in democracy, and I love that she's also a badass warrior queen with a cadre of handmaidens who serve as her ninja bodydoubles. I love that her first love is the Republic, and everything else in her life comes second. And of course, I love, love, love her clothes. I also ship Padme/Anakin (see below) if you want to play with that for these AUs.
Padmé Amidala/Anakin Skywalker/Sabé
Padme and Anakin are a hot mess and I love them. They're totally in love and are convinced they can make this relationship work, even though it's a terrible idea all around. But while Anakin is off fighting the Clone Wars, maybe Sabe and Padme are continuing their relationship back on Naboo or Coruscant? I don't want any Anakin/Sabe relationship, but I'd prefer an open relationship to cheating.
Padmé Amidala/Cordé
In canon, Corde is still working for Padme after Padme becomes a senator, and dies acting as her body double. They must have been close-- tell me more about their relationship! Maybe her death pushes Padme on her path as a Sith Apprentice, or onto the path to help form the Rebellion?
Padmé Amidala/Dormé
Dorme has been described as Padme's "most devoted aide" in the Databank, and like Corde, we know she's still with Padme even after Padme becomes a senator. What exactly does that entail? What kind of role would Dorme play in one of the AUs here where Padme lives?
Padmé Amidala/Sabé
Sabe seems like she's already pretty practiced at being Padme's double when we meet them both in TPM. What is that like for her? Does Sabe ever feel like her personality is being subsumed by all the time she spends pretending to be Padme?
Padmé & Sabé & Rabé & Saché & Yané & Moteé & Eirtaé & Hollé
Padme and her girl gang! I want them to have complex interpersonal relationships and maybe not always perfectly get along or all be best friends, but still be able to put aside rivalries to support each other. Give me their reactions to any of the versions here of Padme surviving!

I just want Padme and her handmaidens as DEBS. Space DEBS, if you like! Maybe they’re attempting to stop evil Sheev Palpatine? Or maybe Sabe or Corde or Dorme is her rival here, and one of them is the endgame ship?

A ridiculous and cracky AU theory, but that’s why I love it. How did Padme come to take on her new identity? Who knows about it? Does she ever come into contact with her daughter? You can play this as serious or cracky as you want.

How did Palpatine discover that Padme had the ability to use the Force? What would convince Padme to become a Sith?

This can be combined with the previous prompt, for an AU where Padme is the Sith apprentice feared across the galaxy. (Ideally, I’d like for her to also be raising Luke and Leia as Sith, in this version.) SW: Rey is raised by Force ghost Shmi
I really like the idea of Shmi appearing to young Rey in the Jakku desert throughout the years and mothering her. Maybe she tells Rey stories, maybe she gives her advice, maybe she helps her look out for danger.
SW: Rey is raised by the Force ghosts of Obi-Wan and Anakin
Young Rey would be subjected to a lot of bickering. A lot. But I like the idea of them being the closest thing to parents she has (and maybe this could also be an AU where she’s related to Obi-Wan somehow?) and they give her advice on dealing with the other scavengers and repairing her stuff. Feel free to go cracky with this.
SW: Rey is raised by Palpatine
Presumably this is an AU where the Empire never fell? What would dark!Rey, raised to be the Emperor’s successor (presumably?) be like? Would she have some sort of rivalry with Vader, given that one is Palpatine’s chosen apprentice and the other is his granddaughter? Naboo’s queens are elected, so how did Rey get into politics? How did she come to be raised on Naboo? (Maybe this could be combined with the “Rey is a Naberrie” prompt?)

I especially love the idea that she’s his granddaughter or something, but I’d also be here for her being his niece or great-niece or whatever other relation you want to come up with. Mostly, I want to know how she finds out! Is this a combo with a previous prompt, and Rey knows because Anakin and Obi-Wan’s ghosts raised her? Or maybe she didn’t find out until later in life? What do Luke, Chewbacca, Han, and Leia think about her being related to Obi-Wan? Does Kylo have any thoughts on Rey being related to his namesake?

I adore Veronica so much. I love her snarkiness and her cynicism, but how she’s really a marshmallow deep down. I love how dedicated she is to finding answers and getting justice, even when life keeps beating her down.
Logan Echolls/Veronica Mars
I think I’ll always have a special place in my heart for LoVe. I love them in the good times: how they banter and care about each other and how they try and support each other. And I also love them in the bad times, when they’re unhealthy for each other and are clinging to each other too tightly because no one else is left who remembers exactly how it used to be.

The short time in canon where we thought Veronica might biologically be Jake Kane’s daughter was super angsty and great. I would love an AU where the paternity test proved that true, and Veronica finds out that Duncan is her half-brother-- and Lilly was her half-sister.
Leverage AU
Veronica is already pretty revenge-driven and tends to work outside the system, and I love the idea of Veronica and any of her friends taking that tendency even further. Maybe Keith Mars actually dies at the end of S2, and that’s the last straw for Veronica? Or maybe Veronica gets fed up with the corruption in Neptune and everywhere else after her time away?

I'm totally here for that trope where Rey thinks she isn't badass and awesome enough for Amilyn who is older and experienced and has done all this great stuff, but Amilyn totally respects her for who she is already.
I've read Leia, Princess of Alderaan, so if you want to lean on that for Amilyn's characterization, I'm totally there for that.
Leia Organa/Qi’ra
I really want Leia and Qi'ra to meet! They're both very driven, but I think they'd almost certainly be on different sides. I think Leia could be as ruthless as Qi'ra if she had to be, but I don't think it comes naturally to her. I would love a situation where they're forced to work together, or to negotiate something, or if they're frenemies of some kind who keep meeting.
Enfys Nest/Leia Organa
Both are revolutionaries, although their methods are different-- I think Enfys comes from outside the system, while Leia learned to work within it (she was a senator, after all). We don't know much about Enfys's past, so anything you want to come up with to fill in the gaps there would be great. I just want these two playing off of each other in one of my requested AUs!
Qi'ra/Rey
I love the idea of Qi'ra taking Rey under her wing, because she sees something of herself in the younger woman. Maybe she wants to protect Rey, maybe she wants Rey to be more ruthless, maybe it's a combination of both and Qi'ra really doesn't know.

This is one of my all-time favorite tropes. I love anything where enemies are forced to work together because they’re working toward the same goal, or they’re stranded somewhere together, or whatever. I eat this shit up with a spoon. I was thinking of this specifically for Enfys/Qi’ra, but if you want to mix and match, you could definitely combine “Darth Maul joins the Rebellion” to make it work for Qi’ra/Maul.
SWSolo: Qi’ra is Maul’s Sith Apprentice
Maybe this is what happens after Solo-- Maul said Qi’ra was to come to Dathomir at the end; maybe he makes her his apprentice then?

I also ship Padme/Anakin (see below) if you want to play with that for these AUs.
Padmé Amidala/Anakin Skywalker/Sabé
Padme and Anakin are a hot mess and I love them. They're totally in love and are convinced they can make this relationship work, even though it's a terrible idea all around. But while Anakin is off fighting the Clone Wars, maybe Sabe and Padme are continuing their relationship back on Naboo or Coruscant? I don't want any Anakin/Sabe relationship, but I'd prefer an open relationship to cheating.
Padmé Amidala/Cordé
In canon, Corde is still working for Padme after Padme becomes a senator, and dies acting as her body double. They must have been close-- tell me more about their relationship! Maybe her death pushes Padme on her path as a Sith Apprentice, or onto the path to help form the Rebellion?

Dorme has been described as Padme's "most devoted aide" in the Databank, and like Corde, we know she's still with Padme even after Padme becomes a senator. What exactly does that entail? What kind of role would Dorme play in one of the AUs here where Padme lives?

Sabe seems like she's already pretty practiced at being Padme's double when we meet them both in TPM. What is that like for her? Does Sabe ever feel like her personality is being subsumed by all the time she spends pretending to be Padme?

I think I’ll always have a special place in my heart for LoVe. I love them in the good times: how they banter and care about each other and how they try and support each other. And I also love them in the bad times, when they’re unhealthy for each other and are clinging to each other too tightly because no one else is left who remembers exactly how it used to be.

Veronica is already pretty revenge-driven and tends to work outside the system, and I love the idea of Veronica and any of her friends taking that tendency even further. Maybe Keith Mars actually dies at the end of S2, and that’s the last straw for Veronica? Or maybe Veronica gets fed up with the corruption in Neptune and everywhere else after her time away?

I really feel like this is rife for a story with lots of double-crossing and double agents and all kinds of spy shenanigans. I’m good with any kind of AU here from gritty and realistic to complete James Bond fantasy-- I just really like spies!
