Dear Creator,
I'm sure I'll like whatever you make for me, so just have fun! I know there are some pairings that have more prompts than others, but that just means I had a lot of ideas for those (or had a past letter to copy & paste from). If I requested a character, I would be happy to see just about anything for them!
I am open to extra treats.
Do not feel like you have to include every character I have requested in my gift; I'm totally cool with you just focusing on one or two of the characters I've requested.
I’m
saiditallbefore on AO3.
Things I like:
Smut Likes:
DNWs:
Max Chapman, Lupe Garcia, Greta Gill, Carson Shaw
Ships: Carson/Greta, Greta/Jo, Lupe/Jess, Carson/Max, Max/Esther. Honestly you could probably sell me on any f/f ship with these characters, so if there's a rare pair featuring one of my requested characters that you're dying to write about, go for it!
Fandom-specific notes: Period-typical and canon-typical homophobia and racism are okay, although I would prefer for them not to be the focus. I also really love baseball, so if you also love baseball and want to include lots of baseball details, go for it! (But if you don't love baseball, feel free to elide over it and focus on the character interactions.)
Feel free to include whichever other characters from the show that you want!
I love Max so so so much. I really love her odd, tentative friendship with Carson, where they're both aware of all the things standing between them, but still bond over baseball. They've seen each other at their worst, and they know each other's secrets, but it's easier in some ways because they're not part of each other's lives outside of baseball and their secrets. Do they ever see each other again? Maybe Carson finds herself somewhere Max is playing? I also really love her relationship with Clance; they love each other so much, even when they don't always understand each other, and they're so supportive of each others' dreams. I'd love to see what happens to them next! Tell me about their letters and phone calls when Max is on the road. When does Max find out Clance is pregnant? I love he instant chemistry with Esther when they meet at Bert's party. I also really like how they react when they find out about each other's baseball aspirations! Max is jealous, but she's self-aware enough to realize when she's being unfair-- and Esther wants Max to have her shot, even knowing that it might jeopardize her own standing. What is life like on the road with the All-Stars?
Lupe took a while to grow on me. At first, I was really put off by her attitude and how determined she was to do everything by herself. But I grew to really like her as she opened up, and by the end of the show she was one of my favorites. She's got a really warm heart under her prickly exterior, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't keep the rest of the team at arms' length. I love her friendship with Jess, and how secure she is in her own identity. I absolutely cried when she told Esti about her daughter. I'd love to see what happens to her next! Does she keep in touch with Esti and Jess or any of the others? Does she come back the next year to play again?
I loved Greta right from the start, but I also love how she's so much more than she appears at first. She pretends it's all easy for her, that she's that pretty and flirtatious and charming without any effort, but it's all to cover up her deep insecurities. The instant chemistry between Greta and Carson was just fantastic. Things aren't easy for them: they're scared, they're angry, and circumstances get in the way, but they care deeply for each other. Each of them was exactly what the other needed, right at that moment in time. What happens if (when) they reunite next season? Or what about an AU where Carson follows Greta to New York, or they both go to LA together? I also really love her relationship with Jo. I really love the weight of their shared history and their plans for the future, especially when Jo (correctly!) accuses Greta of running away every time she gets scared and dragging Jo along with her. Do they reunite after the end of the season? Does Jo go to New York, or does she go west? They both alluded to some of their past misadventures; I'd love to hear more!
As for Carson, I adore her journey as she unexpectedly finds herself-- both as she discovers her own queerness and meets other queer women, and as she comes into herself as a baseball player and coach. I'd love to see where she goes next, what she does with this newfound confidence as she strikes out on her own. I'd also love to see more of her coaching, or her relationships with the other women on the team, as well as any of the prompts including her from my sections on Greta and Max.
Tourmaline Larou, Vignette Stonemoss
Ships: Rycroft/Vignette, Tourmaline/Vignette, Rycroft/Vignette/Tourmaline
Fanfom-specific notes: I'm interested in the war only in how it affects the characters; I'm not interested in a narrative focused too much on the minutia of the war itself.
For Tourmaline: Pre-canon, during canon, post-canon... I'm interested in all of it. She was a Poet Laureate back in Tirnanoc; what did that look like? We saw her in a flashback just before she ended up in The Burgue; what was it like for her when she first arrived there? What is she going to do now that fae have all been segregated on Carnival Row-- and there's no more human customers at the Tetterby?
I get the impression that she's still in love with Vignette, and has been all along. How does she feel about seeing Vignette again? How does she feel about seeing Vignette and Philo together? I'd also be interested in seeing her having a relationship with an OFC or a female canon character.
She and Vignette were lovers at one point, and I get the impression that Tourmaline is still in love with Vignette. How did they first meet-- maybe their paths crossed because of their work? (I can imagine a Poet Laureate might have reason to visit the greatest library in Tirnanoc.) Or maybe an AU where something more sparks between them once Vignette arrives in The Burgue?
For Vignette: Once again, pre-canon, during canon, post-canon... I'm interested in all of it. We see a bit of her life back in Tirnanoc, when she was a librarian. Tell me more about that! Or maybe about her years sparrowhawking, and when she thought Philo was dead. I'm also interested in what happens to her next, and about her work with the Black Raven.
Please no ships for Vignette except with Philo or Tourmaline.
I didn't expect to be as into Philo/Vignette as I am, but I absolutely love them. Philo can be kind of a dumbass about relationships, but he generally means well. I also like that although he's initially presented as the only human who really cares about the fae, we quickly realize that he has his own deeply personal reasons for caring about what happens to fae in The Burgue.
I also love Vignette's deep devotion to Philo, including marking herself as a widow when she believes he's dead, and her rage when she discovers that he lied. I love the lengths they are willing to go to for one another. I'd also be interested in an AU where the two of them actually get out of The Burgue in the season finale. What happens to them next?
I'm also open to either a V with Vignette at the center or an ot3. Everything from the last two requests applies here. Maybe when all three are stuck on Carnival Row together, Vignette realizes that she still has feelings for both of them?
I'm also interested in how Tourmaline and Philo feel about each other. They know each other from Tirnanoc, and they're on somewhat friendly terms in The Burgue, but do they have a deeper friendship beyond that?
Two
Ships: Two/Android, Two/Nyx
Fandom-specific notes: My usual DNW for brainwashing/mental horror/fucking around inside people's minds doesn't apply to the canon-typical memory fuckery. DNW putting nuclear family labels on any crew-as-family dynamics (aka no referring to Two as the mom of the crew or whatever). I'm not really interested in anything set pre-canon, but of course complications arising from their pasts is always fun.
I love this group of criminal misfits. I love that they're dysfunctional and don't get along half the time but are also willing to go to extreme lengths for each other. I love that they fuck up and keep fucking up and sometimes those choices and mistakes are fixable (Six) and sometimes they really aren't (Four). I love how conflicted our original crew members are about the people they used to be, and the ways they try to differentiate themselves. I like that when most of our characters see glimpses of the people they used to be, they're angry and upset and want to do better. No one on the Raza is ever under the impression that they're heroes, but they do their best with what they're given. I also really just love the themes that run throughout the show of autonomy and choosing your own destiny.
Two is one of my absolute favorites in this show. She's willing to step up and lead when the rest of the crew can't get their act together, and she keeps their respect throughout the show. I love her journey to discover her dark past, and her insistence that she's not Rebecca or Portia, but Two. I love that she's the ultimate badass-- not just because of her nanites, but because of her willpower. She's fiercely protective of her ship and her crew, even when she's at odds with them, and I love how willing she always is to sacrifice herself for them.
I would love more canon-typical adventures, which in this canon could mean almost anything. Heists, time travel, time loops, alternate universes, zombies, space battles... it's all canon and I love it all. I'd also like canon-divergent AUs: what if One and/or Sarah and/or Nyx and/or Six lived? What if Four didn't reintegrate his memories? There's also a lot of room for missing scenes and moments, and the finale left some threads unresolved. There's an alien threat still out there (and inside of Two), both Five and Two have long-lost family members, Three is a prisoner of Portia Lin, and a looming android revolt. What happens next?
Calliope Burns, Juliette Fairmont, Elinor Fairmont
Ships: Calliope/Juliette, Elinor/OFC, Elinor/Juliette
I love Calliope and Juliette. I love how sweet Juliette is, and that she's less naive than she originally appears. I love that she's determined not to be a monster, but how she's completely willing to throw Elinor under the bus and have her sent to prison or to bite Theo when she feels it's for the best. I also love how determined and confident Calliope is, and how much she loves her family, and her struggles with whether or not to see Juliette and her family as monsters.
I'd love to see something that picks up after the ending, and shows where the two of them go from there. How can Cal forgive Juliette for biting Theo? Are the two of them still connected? What is Oliver planning, and what will it mean for the two of them and the rest of the town? I'd also be interested in an AU where Calliope and Juliette actually do run away. Where do they go? How do their families react?
I also really love Elinor, in all her terrible glory, and I'd love to see her continue to girlboss gatekeep gaslight her way through even more obstacles. What does she do next? Does she turn the tables on Oliver somehow, or has she finally gotten hers? What happens next time she and Juliette see each other? I'd also be interested in Elinor either seducing someone for her own purposes or getting into a real relationship and finding herself falling for someone. I'd also be into some dubcon-y Elinor/Juliette (maybe when Elinor is trying to show Juliette what being a vampire is all about?)
I also really love the worldbuilding in this show. I think the mythology for vampires is really cool, and I liked the glimpses we got of the Guild and of other Legacy vampires. I also really love that monsters aren't secret from the general public! Feel free to also delve into the Fairmont and Burns family dynamics and into the ways the two families intersect.
Moiraine Damodred, Nynaeve al'Meara
Ships: Moiraine/Siuan, Nynaeve/Egwene, Nynaeve/Lan, Moiraine/Lan, Moiraine/Lan/Nynaeve, Moiraine/Nynaeve
Fandom-specific note: I am a show-only fan, so please do not hinge any fanworks around knowledge from the books.
Nynaeve and Moiraine are my standout favorites, but please feel free to include any of the other characters we've met!
Moiraine is a shady bitch and I absolutely love that about her. It's completely understandable-- she's been spending 20 years looking for the next Dragon Reborn! But even though her motives are generally pure, she still spends a lot of time pushing people around or manipulating them. (Again, to be clear, I love that for her.) I'm really interested in how she feels about that. Does she feel conflicted? I'm also really fascinated by her relationship with Siuan: they clearly love each other, but their duties keep them apart. I'd love to see more stolen moments between them. Or her relationship with Lan: he's the only other person who knows all her secrets, and she knows his. I love their chemistry on the show, and I'd love to see more of their years on the road, with only each other for company. I'm also really interested in her relationships with the Edmond's Field Five. Most of them don't really trust her, and she gives them very little reason to.
I'd also love something set post S1! What does she do now that she's cut off from the One Power? Where does she go, now that she's been exiled from Tar Valon? She agreed to lie and say Rand died; is she worried that her deception might be found out?
I also absolutely adore Nynaeve. I love how protective she is of the people she cares about, and that she refuses to be afraid of things that should definitely scare her. She's such a badass! Tracking Lan and Moiraine, threatening Lan with her dagger, healing Lan and everyone else, healing Egwene at the battle of Fal Dara... I love her so much. I'd love anything about her: maybe what she's feeling after she left home to bring Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Egwene back, and now Rand and Mat are gone? Or more of her and Moiraine butting heads? Or maybe she gets accepted into the Aes Sedai, but she still doesn't really trust any of them? Or missing scenes, or her relationship with Lan or honestly anything that comes to mind for you.
