AU Exchange Letter 2019
Dear Creator,
I'm sure I'll like whatever you make for me, so just have fun! I know this letter got a little long, and there are some pairings that have more prompts than others, but that just means I had a lot of ideas for those (or had a past letter to copy & paste from). If I requested a pairing, I would be happy to see just about anything for them!
I’m saiditallbefore on AO3.
Things I like:
Smut Likes:
Porn is welcome for all ships I’ve requested, unless otherwise specified.
See below for more specific prompts!
DNWs:
Exchange-specific note: Please feel free to mix and match requested AUs within a fandom-- for example, if you want to make Jane Foster a Valkyrie who also has superpowers due to the Aether, or if you want to make Ron Weasley a Slytherin who helps fend off an alien invasion, then go for it!
Requested AUs
Avatar & Benders Setting
I don’t think you need to recreate the plot of either A:tLA here; I’m way more interested in worldbuilding about how these characters would look in this setting. What kind of benders-- or non-benders-- would they be? How would this setting have shaped them differently?
Canon's Plot Is Interrupted By An Alien Invasion
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Canon-Setting Spies AU
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Con Artists AU
I love grifter-type characters, especially when they secretly have a heart of gold. Maybe the characters are teaming up for a job, maybe they’re rival con artists-- either way is great! I’m not super into the idea of an AU where one character is a con artist and the other is the law enforcement officer trying to catch them, unless the law enforcement officer joins up with the con artist by the end.
Dragon Rider AU
Look I just want characters having to look after dragons and getting to ride them and go on adventures. Telepathic dragons are good but not a must; talking dragons are a "rather not" for this. Either set in the canon setting or in an AU setting of your own creation is great.
Heist To Take From Museums & Give Back To Owners (Robin Hood Style)
What it says on the tin.
Leverage AU
Much like the Con Artists AU, I am super here for grifters with a heart of gold-- this time with a purpose! Don’t feel like you have to shoehorn characters into the roles of Mastermind, Grifter, Hitter, Hacker, and Thief or in retelling something from Leverage with different characters-- I’m more interested in the concept than in a direct retelling.
Ocean's Eleven-esque heist
Basically everything I said above for the Con Artists AU, with the added excitement of a high-stakes heist, lots that can go wrong, and potential double-crosses.
Regency-Inspired Science Fiction AU
Give me balls set on space stations! Give me duels for honor with blasters! Give me fancy dresses and proper manners and house parties on distant moons or fancy space yachts! I want every bit of ridiculousness and tropeyness you can squeeze out of this premise.
Ritual Sex Required To Save The World
You can see all my smut likes up above! In addition to that, I feel like this is really good for people who have had feelings for each other but are pretending they don’t and now have to have sex because the world is depending on it and may or may not be pretending that whole thing isn’t weird.
Soulmate-Identifying Marks
I absolutely love soulmate-identifying marks-- first words, last words, names, symbols... go absolutely crazy and use whichever makes the most sense to you. My favorite thing about soulmarks is the potential for angst and how having a soulmark might shape and change the character’s point of view.
Space Outlaws AU
Pirates or smugglers or grifters or whatever you want them to be-- but IN SPACE!
State-Mandated Ghost Hunters
Here’s the origin of the AU, if you don’t know. I think I’ve requested this for all my fandoms, and I’d love it for any of these ships. Several of these canons have canonical ghosts, so feel free to use those, or make something up for yourself! Feel free to go wild with the worldbuilding there-- maybe there are different kinds of ghosts? Maybe some ghosts eventually become more dangerous than what we see in canon?
Carol Danvers
I absolutely love Carol so much. I love her recklessness and her sense of humor and how she keeps getting up every time she gets knocked down.
Maria Rambeau
I love how down-to-Earth and steady Maria is, and I love what a good mother she seems to be to Monica, and I love how she just jumps right into things once she learns about aliens and everything else.
Carol Danvers/Maria Rambeau
SPACE WIVES! I'd love these two to have more adventures together post-CM. I'd especially love anything that plays with their shared history and how they've changed-- and how they haven't-- over the years they've been apart.
Carol Danvers & Nick Fury & Goose
I loved the interactions between Carol and Fury-- and Goose, of course!-- a lot in this movie. It was such a good buddy cop dynamic, and I really liked the way they played off of each other and the way they gradually became friends.
Fandom Specific AUs
Captain Marvel (2019): 1920s barnstormers AU
I am absolutely here for Maria and Carol as 1920s stunt pilots! It would fit their daredevil personalities so well, and I would love whatever you came up with for it.
MCU: Maria Rambeau tests project PEGASUS and ends up with the Kree instead of Carol
I’m really interested in what this would have been like-- how would Maria’s life on Hala been different from Carol’s? How would her relationship with the Kree have been different? I’d also be interested in what that reunion looks like and what those years look like from Carol’s point of view.
Chloe/June Colburn
I love that June isn't always right, even though she's the stereotypical "nice" character, and I love everything about Chloe- even when she's completely horrible.
Fandom Specific AUs
All: Characters Have Useless Powers
Exactly how useless are these powers? Are they, like, embarrassingly useless? I would absolutely love it if Chloe made a big deal about having superpowers and then had some kind of useless powers, or something similar.
ALL: Some people have magic
Maybe June has magic and is trying to keep it secret from Chloe? Maybe Chloe has magic and uses it to ruthlessly manipulate people? Maybe Chloe finds out that June has magic and tries to convince her to use it for a scheme and things go terribly wrong?
ALL: Superheroes/Superpowers
Are people born with superpowers? Was this the result of some kind of freak accident? What do June and Chloe do with their newfound superpowers? And-- most importantly-- what would their superpowers be?
ALL: Pirates
This is my cracky request for this fandom, always. Chloe has the “morals of a pirate” after all! I would adore anything where she is a pirate-- maybe June is her captive turned semi-reluctant first mate?
This is one of my forever fandoms. I love the worldbuilding and I love the books and I just keep coming back to it, because it's just so much fun. I prefer the books to the movies for a number of reasons, but I'm not a stickler about it if you prefer a particular something in the movies. And please no Cursed Child canon! I don't mind it, but I'd rather not have it here. Don't feel like you need to incorporate Pottermore canon, either-- I really only care about the 7 books.
For any of my miscellaneous AUs, such as con artists, feel free to set the AU in the Harry Potter universe (where the characters have magic).
Ginny Weasley
Ginny is one of my favorite characters, hands-down. I love her ferocity and her nerve and her love for Quidditch. And I love her willingness to tell people the truth bluntly and stand up for what she believes in.
Ron Weasley
Ron is one of my other favorite characters. He’s not the most tactful person in the world, but I love his loyalty and I love the fact that he basically decides to follow Harry anywhere from the moment they meet-- not because Harry is the famous Harry Potter, but because Harry is his best mate. He’s got a jealous streak and isn’t always in touch with his emotions but he tries so hard and he always comes back. (Also, I’ve always loved the ridiculous seer!Ron theory and would love more AUs based on that-- seer!Ron wasn’t in the tagset and I wasn’t reminded of it until too late, but if you want to use that in combo with one of the other AUs here, you’re welcome to do that)
Hermione/Ginny & Hermione/Ron & Harry/Ginny & Harry/Ron
I absolutely love all four of these characters and the relationships they have with each other. I love that they can all be short-sighted and overbearing and jealous and silly, but they are also fiercely loyal and brave and kind. I love all of their individual relationships, too! Hermione and Ron may fight and bicker, but they balance each other out and always come back together. Harry and Ginny both know what it’s like to have Voldemort in their heads, and how hard it can be to forge your own path. Harry and Ron are always there for each other and look out for each other. And while we don’t see a lot of Hermione and Ginny’s relationship in canon, we can see that despite all their outward differences, they become very close.
Fandom Specific AUs
HP: Slytherin Ron
I’m pretty sure I’ve read every fic with this premise on AO3 and most, if not all, of the fics with this premise on FFN. Yes, even the really, really bad ones! I just really like the idea of Ron, who is so overlooked and wants so badly to stand out from all of his brothers, ending up in Slytherin. How does he react to being in what, to his mind, is the house of evil snakes? How does he get along-- or not-- with all of his housemates? And feel free to combine this with an AU where Harry and/or Hermione are also in Slytherin!
If you can’t tell, this is my Endgame fix-it request. The most important thing for me is that Natasha is alive at the end-- her death was the thing that I hated the most about Endgame. If you wanted to bring Gamora back, too, somehow, I’d also really love that.
Natasha Romanov
Natasha is one of my absolute faves. I love how she’s grown and changed in the time we’ve seen her-- from the closed-off agent we first see in IM2 and Avengers to the team leader we see in Endgame. I love anything that focuses on her personal journey or on her relationships with her teammates.
Clint Barton/Laura Barton/Natasha Romanov
I loved the little glimpse of their relationship we saw in AOU, and I loved what we saw of the Bartons in Endgame, plus Clint and Natasha’s relationship there. I’d love anything that focuses on the relationship the three of them have and how coming back from literally everything in Endgame has-- and has not-- changed that.
Lila Barton & Harley Keener & Cassie Lang & Peter Parker & Morgan Stark
There’s very little we know about most of these characters-- how have they changed as they’ve gotten older? Most of them remember the way the world was before Thanos, but most are too young to really remember what it was like before superheroes. How does that shape the way they look at the world?
Carol Danvers & Gamora & Jane Foster
So in case you haven’t noticed, I absolutely love all three of these women and I would love to see the ways that their different personalities play off of each other-- the way that they throw themselves into things, the different ways that they try to solve problems, and their different sets of morals.
Carol Danvers/Natasha Romanov
These two meet in Endgame, but we don’t see much of their relationship! I’d love to see what that actually looks like. I think their personalities are a lot alike in many ways, although Carol might be a bit more prone to just rushing headlong into trouble without a plan, while Natasha rushes headlong into trouble with a plan.
Gamora/Natasha Romanov
They’re both former assassins, but I think they have a very different view on their previous line of work. Gamora doesn’t seem hung up on who she was or what she did for Thanos-- she’s very pragmatic, and seems to just want to keep moving forward. Meanwhile, Natasha clearly harbors some amount of guilt for her past-- she said in Avengers that she has red in her ledger. I’d love to see how the different ways they look at the world echo in their relationship with each other!
Team Time Heist
So one of the things I did like about Endgame was the relationships we saw hinted at between these characters! It’s a pretty odd grouping-- Steve, Nat, Nebula, Rocket, Rhodey, Thor, Tony, Bruce, and Scott-- and anything alluding to their friendships and relationships and how they’ve grown and changed would be really great.
Fandom Specific AUs
Most of these are pretty self-explanatory, I think.
MCU: Returning the soul stone returns Natasha
MCU: Natasha lives but Clint does not die instead of her
MCU: Carol and Jane and Gamora keep and wield their infinity stones
MCU: Natasha is brought back with Bruce or Tony’s snap
MCU: Undoing the snap undoes the five year jump
MCU: Young Avengers Go Back In Time To Save The OG Avengers
I love “going back in time to fix things” plots and I would love it if this next generation of kids decided to use what they have at their disposal to go back and save everyone they can.
MCU: The Entirety of Endgame Was An Increasingly Complicated Time Heist
So...what if the time travel hadn’t gone so smoothly? What if there had been more complications, like there was for Steve & Tony getting the Tesseract? I am 100% here for the team spiraling into more and more madness, going on increasingly weird adventures, maybe dragging along past counterparts, maybe meeting up in weird places in the time stream, whatever you think of!
All: Everyone Lives/Nobody Dies (Except the Bad Guys)
This is my miscellaneous request where I ask for things that have nothing to do with fixing Endgame! But feel free to mix and match these with the other MCU requests.
Peggy Carter/Carol Danvers
I know they’re from two different time periods in canon, but they’re both women who excelled in a very male-dominated military structure and went on to see things that they had never imagined. They’ve both been underestimated and overlooked and are a lot stronger than people give them credit for.
Jane Foster/Gamora
I’m not saying Jane has a thing for aliens, but she doesn’t not have a thing for aliens. And I feel like Gamora would really like Jane and her determination and her fearlessness, and Jane would love Gamora’s resilience and courage (although she might frown a bit at her flexible morals). I’d love for them to go on space adventures together!
Jane Foster/Nebula
Once again, I’m not saying Jane has a thing for aliens, but she doesn’t not have a thing for aliens. Nebula might not know what to make of Jane, at least at first, but she’d probably respect her determination and fearlessness. I’d love for them to go on space adventures together!
Jane Foster/Ava Starr
I absolutely love the idea of these two in whatever situation you want to throw them into! I think it could be really interesting-- Ava has had some really mixed experiences with scientists, and Jane has had some pretty complicated experiences with SHIELD.
Gamora/Valkyrie
Cosmic warrior women! I think they’re both very cynical and angry at the universe around them, but they’ve also come a long way and are super determined to move forward and be the good guys now.
Wanda Maximoff/Natasha Romanov
So, while these two don’t interact a lot, I love the interactions we do see. Wanda is so OTT powerful-- she can level whole buildings with her mind!-- but Natasha’s a lot more worldly-wise than she is. And all that aside, they both have experience in being used as a weapon and in having to learn to deal with having blood on their hands and stepping up to being a hero anyway.
Fandom Specific AUs
Again, I think most of these are pretty self-explanatory.
MCU: Jane Foster is recruited to be a Valkyrie under Queen Valkyrie of New Asgard
MCU: Jane Foster Lifts Thor's Hammer
MCU: Soulmates Decided by Goose‚ the Angry Flerken
So, the idea of soulmates finding each other because they’re being chased by an angry flerken makes me laugh so hard. Feel free to take that in any direction you like!
MCU: The Aether Gives Jane Foster Superpowers
Padmé Amidala
Padme!!! I love her courage and how much she believes in democracy, and I love that she's also a badass warrior queen with a cadre of handmaidens who serve as her ninja bodydoubles. I love that her first love is the Republic, and everything else in her life comes second. And of course, I love, love, love her clothes. I ship Padme with any and all women, especially her handmaidens but also Breha Organa and Mon Mothma, and I also ship Padme/Anakin if you want to play with that for these AUs.
Fandom Specific AUs
SW: Padmé comes back to life as an eldritch creature
Mostly, I just want Padme coming back from the dead and fucking shit up.
SW: Padmé Amidala Frees Shmi Skywalker
I just absolutely love the idea of Padme coming back to Tattooine sometime after TPM to free Shmi. Maybe she would set Shmi up with a home on Naboo, where there is more water than Shmi would ever have seen before in her life?
SW: Leia was raised by Sith!Padmé
This can also be both Leia and Luke raised by Sith!Padme, if you want. How did we even get here? What kind of mother is Padme as a Sith? What kind of life lessons does she teach?
SW: Jedi Padmé
So how would Padme feel about the restrictions and policies of the Jedi Order? What would her role be in the Clone Wars if she were a Jedi?
SW: Jedi are allowed to marry
What it says on the tin.
SW: Dark Empress Padmé
Maybe Anakin and Padme both live, and they overthrow the Emperor and co-rule the galaxy together? Or maybe Anakin dies and Padme ends up as the Empress of the galaxy on her own. As always, I'm very interested in how Padme, such a staunch supporter of democracy, might end up falling to the point that she is the dictator of the galaxy.
SW: Padmé lives and founds the Rebellion
What it says on the tin.
SW: Sith Padmé Amidala
Does Palpatine find out that Padme is Force-sensitive and take her on as his apprentice? Or does she become a Sith some other way?
SWPT: Padmé Amidala survives and Anakin Skywalker | Darth Vader doesn’t
This can be combined with the previous prompt, for an AU where Padme is the Sith feared across the galaxy. (Ideally, I’d like for her to also be raising Luke and Leia as Sith, in this version.) Or I’d also be here for the version where Padme lives to help start the Rebellion (Again, I’d like her to raise Luke and Leia in this AU-- except not as Sith here, obviously.)
Like my MCU request, you may have noticed that these two requests were also semi-themed (by worldbuilding & miscellaneous) but I did not split them here because I requested the same set of characters.
For any of my miscellaneous prompts, such as bank robbers, feel free to set them in the Star Wars universe.
Padmé Amidala & Ben Solo | Kylo Ren
I don’t care if Padmé survives ROTS or if she’s somehow a Force ghost or if time travel is somehow involved, I just want her interacting with her grandson in some way. I can imagine this going in a couple different ways, depending on when in canon this takes place-- is this pre-canon Ben, or Kylo Ren when he’s serving Snoke, or Kylo Ren the Supreme Leader?
Rey & Chewbacca
Rey spends a lot of time looking for a mentor/father figure. Chewie is a smuggler, pilot, and a hero of the Rebellion in his own right. Their interactions in The Last Jedi really made me want something where Chewie takes Rey under his wing, and he turns out to be the mentor she's been looking for all along.
Poe Dameron/Finn/Rey
I loved what we saw of Poe in TLJ! He's a hotheaded flyboy who makes mistakes, but who also will do anything for the Resistance. I would love to see him and Finn and Rey getting into (and out of) trouble together, and working together to stop the First Order and save what's left of the Resistance!
Poe Dameron/Finn/Rey/Rose Tico
Same as above, but with EVEN MORE. ROSE. I love Rose! She's so fierce and angry and I love how much she hates the First Order. I would love it if Team Nobodies got to fuck some of the First Order's shit up. Or space adventures, or other moments in the Resistance.
Rey/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren
I love their complicated dynamic-- their fates are intertwined and they don’t quite hate each other, but they’re on opposite sides and neither will budge an inch. And we’ve seen that they work so well together against a common enemy!
Rey/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren & Leia Organa/Han Solo
In addition to what I said about Rey/Kylo, I absolutely love Leia/Han. The slap-slap-kiss dynamic they have in the OT is one that I’m a sucker for, and their more world-weary dynamic in the ST is great too. They’re messy and complicated, especially in the sequel trilogy, but they clearly love each other deeply.
Rey/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren & Leia Organa
In addition to what I’ve already said, Leia is one of my favorite characters and the relationship we see between her and Kylo, and the relationship we see between her and Rey, are both very subtle but absolutely fantastic.
Leia Organa/Han Solo & Ben Solo | Kylo Ren
In addition to everything I’ve already said, I think it’s clear that Leia and Han were probably flawed parents-- but Ben made his own mistakes and refuses to do anything to change that.
Fandom Specific AUs
SW: Padmé is still alive during the Sequel Trilogy
I love the idea of old!Padmé, ancient but as dignified and well-dressed as ever.
SW: Empire Never Fell
What it says on the tin.
SW: Rey is Obi-Wan's granddaughter
Mostly, I want to know how she finds out! What do Luke, Chewbacca, Han, and Leia think about her being related to Obi-Wan? Does Kylo have any thoughts on Rey being related to his namesake?
SW: Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter
Maybe Rey’s past is the same as canon, only she finds out at some point that she’s related to the Emperor, and has to grapple with what that means for her identity and her place in the Resistance. Or maybe this could be combined with the “raised by Palpatine” AU, and Rey has been raised as a Sith?
SW: Rey is raised by Force ghost Shmi
I really like the idea of Shmi appearing to young Rey in the Jakku desert throughout the years and mothering her. Maybe she tells Rey stories, maybe she gives her advice, maybe she helps her look out for danger.
SW: The Republic Never Fell
What it says on the tin.
SW: The Jedi split into factions when the Separatists defect from the Republic
Mostly, I’m interested in the lasting repercussions of that! Would the Jedi Order have lasted longer if they had become multiple orders? What would that look like?
SWST: Empress Rey
I’m assuming this would be in an AU where the Empire never fell, but maybe it’s not-- maybe Rey falls to the Dark Side and sets herself up as the Empress of the galaxy?
SWST: Han and/or Leia infiltrate(s) the First Order soon after Ben joins to get him back
This could go either really angsty or really cracky or both, and I’m okay with whatever you decide. I’d love lots of feelings about getting their son back, or lots of action in trying to infiltrate the First Order, or whether they can even manage to infiltrate the First Order when both of them are famous as war heroes of the Rebellion.
SWST: Kylo Ren hero worships his grandmother
So, what would Kylo be like if he hero worshiped Padme instead of Anakin?
SWST: Rey is a Naberrie
I’m imagining her as being related to the family through Padme’s sister and her children. Is this something she’s always known? Maybe in this AU she was raised on Naboo with her family. Or maybe this is something she finds out later? How does this change her? How does she think of her family history?
SWST: Rey is a Palpatine
Maybe Rey’s past is the same as canon, only she finds out at some point that she’s related to the Emperor, and has to grapple with what that means for her identity and her place in the Resistance. Or maybe this could be combined with the “raised by Palpatine” AU, and Rey has been raised as a Sith?
SWST: Rey is Han's daughter (but not Leia’s)
I really like the idea that neither Han nor Leia knows until later, after they meet Rey. Maybe this is a Han lives AU, and it comes up when the two of them are traveling together somehow? Or maybe Han died just like in canon, and Rey doesn’t find out until after, when she mourns the lost possibilities?
SWST: Rey is Leia's daughter (but not Han’s)
I really like the idea that neither Han nor Leia knows until later, after they meet Rey. Maybe she was kidnapped when she was very young, before she ended up on Jakku? Maybe they thought she was killed in some kind of attack? However you want to do it, I’m interested in the emotional fallout for the characters.
SWST: Rey is Queen of Naboo
Naboo’s queens are elected, so how did Rey get into politics? How did she come to be raised on Naboo? (Maybe this could be combined with the “Rey is a Naberrie” prompt?)
SW: The Force is an Eldritch Horror
I’ve read a couple fics like this, where the Force and Force users are Eldritch and weird and I’m into it, so go crazy.
ALL: Bank Robbers
So who are the bank robbers in this case? What led them to bank robbing? Is this some kind of Bonnie and Clyde scenario or what?
ALL: In-universe coffeeshop AU
Okay, so what is a coffee shop in the Star Wars universe like? Who is the beleaguered barista and who is the temperamental customer? What sets coffee in the GFFA apart from Earth coffee?
I'm sure I'll like whatever you make for me, so just have fun! I know this letter got a little long, and there are some pairings that have more prompts than others, but that just means I had a lot of ideas for those (or had a past letter to copy & paste from).

Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers
I absolutely love Carol so much. I love her recklessness and her sense of humor and how she keeps getting up every time she gets knocked down.

Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23
Harry Potter
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Marvel Cinematic Universe
This is my miscellaneous request where I ask for things that have nothing to do with fixing Endgame! But feel free to mix and match these with the other MCU requests.
Peggy Carter/Carol Danvers
I know they’re from two different time periods in canon, but they’re both women who excelled in a very male-dominated military structure and went on to see things that they had never imagined. They’ve both been underestimated and overlooked and are a lot stronger than people give them credit for.
Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
